THE boutique was to be inaugurated at 4pm. And at sharp four, Consul General of Japan Kazuo Minagawa cut the ribbon. Little wonder then that the Japanese are known to be brilliant watchmakers. ' They are always on time after all. Seiko, one of the leading global luxury watch brands, delighted watch connoisseurs in the city by launching India's first Seiko exclusive boutique at Express Avenue Mall.
Those present at the opening of the boutique were given a guided tour by the Seiko bigwigs. On display was the 40th anniversary limited edition issue of Seiko's Astron, the world's first quartz watch. Seiko has a spectrum of elite collections in India. Sportura is the perfect watch for motor sports enthusiasts the world over. Velatura offers the complete line for sailing, cruising and yachting enthusiasts. As for the Premier collection, it is inspired by the eternal beauty of neoclassical architecture.
At the launch Seiko also displayed its historical collection watches. These watches feature many firsts in the field of horology. The collection included the first wristwatch and the first railway watch made in Japan. It also had the first Japanese touch-to-read pocket watch and the world's first quartz watch.
Tetsuji Ishimaru, President, Seiko Watch India Pvt Ltd., said, "Seiko Watch India Pvt Ltd.. is just three years old and has shown stupendous growth in the category of premium watches. Our positioning of Affordable Luxury' proves our endeavor to provide the best of technology and products to our customers and by launching the exclusive boutique, we attempt to make the brand more accessible. We are really happy to bring to the city of Chennai the complete Seiko experience and believe this will cement our long standing relationship with India.'' So now you know what to wear if you want to stay on time.
